He was previously Vice President and Editorial Director of CNR Partners, a co-venture of Citicorp, Nynex and RCA, that pioneered the development of interactive electronic media products for consumers. Allan began his career as a correspondent for United Press International where he quickly became one of the youngest news executives in the organisation, heading the Paris Bureau at the age of 26. He made the transition from journalism to corporate management, becoming Vice President and General Manager of the Hearst Corporation's Syndication Division with responsibility for worldwide newspaper activities, product licensing, and television programme distribution.
